The Cachar Police have arrested two drug peddlers, Mumin Uddin Barbhuiya and Mithun Chakraborty, during a major operation targeting the narcotics trade, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The arrests followed a tip-off that led the police to conduct a raid at Devipur, Shibpur, Part-2. During the operation, authorities recovered a large cache of illicit drugs. Barbhuiya was found in possession of 10,000 tablets suspected to be YABA, a highly addictive synthetic drug.
In addition to the drugs, police seized a motorcycle bearing registration number AS11X4127. The Cachar Police confirmed the seizure via a post on the micro-blogging platform X, stating:
“Cachar Police apprehended a drug peddler Mumin Uddin Barbhuiya & seized 10,000 tablets suspected to be YABA from his possession & a Motorcycle bearing Reg No. AS11X4127.”
Mithun Chakraborty was also taken into custody, and police are investigating further to trace the supply network and identify additional accomplices involved in the narcotics trade in the region.
