The Task Force (South-East) team, in collaboration with the Humayun Nagar police, has arrested Shaik Saddam Hussain (32), a notorious burglar, on Monday. Hussain, a carpenter from Mallepally in Habeebnagar, is accused of being involved in a dozen theft cases and was found in possession of gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 1.7 lakh.
According to police officials, Hussain, along with his associates, had been targeting locked houses and stealing from passengers on crowded RTC buses since 2010. He has a long history of criminal activity, with involvement in 46 theft cases and various other property offences.
In 2024, Hussain was arrested by Narayanaguda police, and after being sent to judicial remand, he was released on bail. Despite his arrest, he continued to commit thefts, particularly targeting people on RTC buses. Recently, he stole a gold chain from a woman at the Mehdipatnam bus-stop.
Following the victim’s complaint, the Humayun Nagar police launched an investigation, which led to Hussain’s identification and subsequent arrest. Police have recovered the stolen gold ornaments, valued at Rs 1.7 lakh, from his possession.
The arrest is a significant breakthrough in curbing theft-related crimes in the area, and Hussain is expected to face further charges for his involvement in multiple thefts over the years.
