Police have solved a chilling murder case by arresting two men, Bullu Rai and Laxman Rai, for the killing of 40-year-old Jeet Lal Rai, a partially disabled man from Sherpur, Maner. The brutal crime occurred on September 13 near the Durga temple in Jivrakhan Tola, where Jeet, who was sleeping on a platform, was attacked and beaten to death with bricks and stones.
City SP (west), Bhanu Pratap Singh, revealed that temple sweeper Laxman initially misled the investigation by blaming two other men, Gaurakh and Kariyava. However, CCTV footage installed just a day before the murder exposed the truth. The video showed Laxman standing guard while Bullu assaulted Jeet.
During interrogation, both accused confessed, admitting the murder was an act of revenge. The duo suspected Gaurakh and Kariyava had informed the police about a stolen loudspeaker from the temple, which had led to their questioning. To take revenge and shift blame, they killed Jeet, who was vulnerable as he slept outside the temple, and fabricated a false story implicating the brothers.
SP Singh praised the police team’s quick response and the critical role of CCTV evidence in apprehending the culprits and bringing them to justice.
