Budumuru Nagaraju Held for Impersonating Telangana CM Aide

Ex-cricketer faked OSD to CM to dupe business leaders

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested Budumuru Nagaraju, a 32-year-old former Andhra cricketer from Srikakulam district, for impersonating a Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Telangana.

Nagaraju is accused of creating fake email IDs and WhatsApp accounts, using them to send fraudulent emails and messages to high-profile businesspersons, posing as the CM’s close aide. His intent: to solicit financial assistance under false pretenses.

A complaint was filed by the real OSD to the Telangana CM, who reported suspicious emails and WhatsApp calls from the number , which falsely claimed to represent the CM’s office. One such fraudulent email came from the ID [email protected], sent to Krishna Mohan Bollineni, MD of Bollineni Infra Projects.

Investigations revealed Nagaraju had reached out to:

Aravind Sanka, MD of Rapido

Srinivas Gupta Verrabomma, Chairman of Gupta Realty

Krishna Mohan Bollineni, MD of Bekem Infra

Sri Chakradhar & Nitin Koushal, MDs of Country Delight

In total, he is linked to 13 cases in Telangana and 16 in Andhra Pradesh. A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) is also pending against him at the XII ACMM Court, Nampally.

According to DCP Cyber Crime, the accused systematically targeted wealthy and high-profile individuals, exploiting their trust in government officials through fake digital identities.
