Police in Budgam district have arrested two individuals in connection with a paddy theft case and successfully recovered the stolen property.

The incident surfaced after Ghulam Mohammad Rather, a resident of Wadwan, filed a complaint at Police Post Soibugh on March 20, reporting the theft of paddy from his granary during the night of March 19–20.

Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 59/2025) was registered under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Budgam, and a detailed investigation was launched.

During the course of the probe, police questioned multiple suspects. One of them, Umar Farooq Dar, a resident of Wadwan, confessed to stealing the paddy and selling it to Toha Yousuf Dar from Gotapora Soibugh.

Based on the confession and subsequent leads, police recovered approximately three quintals of stolen paddy. Both accused have been arrested and are in custody.
