The Sadduguntepalya Police have arrested a techie-turned-pani puri vendor in connection with the suspicious death of his pregnant wife at their residence in BTM Layout, Bengaluru, on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Praveen, married Shilpa B. Panchangamatha (27) in 2022. The couple had a two-year-old son, and at the time of her death, Shilpa was pregnant with their second child.
Police said both were employed in the IT sector before Praveen quit his job to open a pani puri stall, while Shilpa left her software job after childbirth. Shilpa’s family has alleged that she faced dowry harassment and was murdered by her husband.
Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case under dowry death and murder charges. Investigations are underway to verify the harassment claims and circumstances surrounding her death.
