Bryan David Smith Arrested in Savannah Kidnapping Case

Rideshare driver charged with kidnapping, battery, and robbery

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) — A Savannah man has been arrested in connection to a disturbing case involving kidnapping and aggravated battery, according to Savannah Police.

Authorities say 31-year-old Bryan David Smith was taken into custody following an investigation that began on August 9, when officers responded to a local hospital after receiving a report of an assault.

During their investigation, officers discovered that the suspect was the victim’s rideshare driver. The assault left the victim with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police determined the incident occurred in the 11900 block of Apache Avenue.

On August 18, Smith was officially charged with:

Criminal Attempt (Rape)

Aggravated Battery

Kidnapping

Robbery by Sudden Snatching

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet released additional details.
