BAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Panama City Beach woman was arrested Wednesday on multiple animal cruelty charges after authorities say she neglected and abused her pets.

According to court documents, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office received reports that 20-year-old Brooklyn Patterson was depriving several animals of food and water and possibly harming them. Deputies discovered three dogs and ten cats in her care, along with three dead birds.

A roommate reportedly told deputies the birds had been dead for approximately three weeks due to lack of food and water. Video evidence provided by roommates showed two labradoodles confined to a kennel all day, forced to sit in their own waste. Animal Control investigators said the labradoodles appeared malnourished, with visible spines and skeletal structures.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Patterson’s residence and removed all animals from the home. Patterson was later taken into custody during a traffic stop and transported to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Patterson allegedly admitted to neglecting the birds for a week, resulting in their deaths, and also admitted to not feeding the labradoodles for about a week or letting them out of their kennels for extended periods.

She has been charged with three counts of aggravated animal cruelty and two counts of animal cruelty.
