LAGOS, Nigeria – May 9, 2025:
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer, a 22-year-old British national, at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of cannabis into Nigeria.

Slifer, who arrived on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha, was intercepted on Friday with two suitcases containing 35 parcels of “Loud”, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 37.6 kilograms.

In a statement issued Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that Slifer confessed to being twice convicted in the UK for drug trafficking and robbery. He admitted being recruited in London to collect the drugs in Thailand and transport them to Nigeria.

The NDLEA has intensified efforts to dismantle international drug trafficking rings, especially those using Nigeria as a transit point or final destination.
