Brian Busani Moyo Convicted in Highlanders FC Fraud Case

Ex-CEO pocketed $2,000 in inflated transfer scam

Former Highlanders Football Club CEO Brian Busani Moyo (54) has been found guilty of fraud for misleading the club during a player transfer deal.

The Tredgold Magistrates Court in Bulawayo heard that Moyo deliberately inflated the transfer fee for Never Rauzhi and Malvern Hativagoni from Bulawayo Chiefs FC, creating a $5,000 discrepancy that allowed him to benefit personally.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, in March 2025, Moyo informed Highlanders FC—through club representative Nkani Khoza—that acquiring the two players would cost US$23,000. However, the actual transfer fee was only US$18,000.

Trusting Moyo’s representation, Highlanders FC paid the full US$23,000 in installments.

The prosecution revealed that Andrew Mandigora, Moyo’s accomplice who has already been convicted, handled the actual transaction with Bulawayo Chiefs, paying the real fee of US$18,000. The remaining US$5,000 was split between the two, with Moyo receiving US$2,000.

The fraudulent deal shortchanged the club and breached its trust in senior management. The court has yet to announce Moyo’s sentencing date.
