PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. – Authorities have arrested 37-year-old Brett Huntley Keel in connection with the murder of Joyce Gomez, a 38-year-old mother of two whose body was found Sunday in DeLisle, Mississippi.
Keel was taken into custody Monday by Pass Christian Police and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. Gomez was last seen on Friday in nearby Bay St. Louis. Her body was discovered over the weekend, and following an investigation, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner determined that foul play was involved.
This is not Keel’s first encounter with the law for violent offenses. At age 22, he was arrested for felony aggravated domestic violence after allegedly striking his mother in the head with an iron while she slept. In a more recent pending case, Keel faced misdemeanor assault and domestic violence charges from an incident earlier in 2024 involving an attack on a man.
Harrison County Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner has set Keel’s bond at $1.5 million.
