ANDERSON, Calif. — A routine traffic stop along Interstate 5 resulted in the seizure of more than 150 pounds of methamphetamine and approximately five pounds of suspected cocaine, according to the Anderson Police Department.
Police said the stop occurred Saturday evening, Feb. 21, near Riverside Avenue on I-5. The driver, Brenda Yvette Travis, 41, of Inglewood, was filling out a traffic citation when K9 Rip conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle.
Authorities said the K9 alerted to the presence of controlled substances, prompting a search of the vehicle. Officers reportedly discovered multiple large duffel bags containing over 150 pounds of methamphetamine, along with a brick-shaped package weighing about five pounds believed to be cocaine.
The Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
Travis was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple drug trafficking-related charges.
