LYNDON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – A 72-year-old Lyndon woman has been accused of identity theft after reportedly using her brother’s Social Security number for nearly ten years without his knowledge.

Authorities say they received complaints on April 7 concerning long-standing identity fraud. During their investigation, police discovered that Brenda Heywood had allegedly used her brother’s personal information to request financial reports and run credit checks, all without his permission.

Police later met with Heywood at her home and issued her a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division in May.
