Brazilian Nationals Arrested in Central Florida; One Wanted for Homicide
ORLANDO, Fla. – Two Brazilian nationals living in the U.S. illegally were arrested in Central Florida in connection with an international homicide investigation, according to a statement released Thursday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The suspects, identified as Lafaiett Pereira and Marcia De Oliveira, were apprehended by FDLE agents and the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) in Orlando.
Authorities said Pereira was the subject of an active INTERPOL Red Notice for homicide, while De Oliveira had been operating an unlawful business in the United States. Both individuals had overstayed or violated the terms of their nonimmigrant visas and were categorized as deportable aliens by immigration officials.
“(Pereira) was wanted on an active INTERPOL Red Notice for homicide while his wife was running her own unlawful business in the U.S.,” FDLE stated.
No additional details about the homicide case have been released at this time.
The arrest underscores ongoing collaboration between local law enforcement and federal agencies to target fugitives with international warrants and enforce immigration laws.
