DES MOINES, Iowa — Two individuals were arrested following a police chase involving a stolen truck on Friday afternoon. The chase ended when the suspects crashed on County Line Road near Blank Golf Course, with the vehicle reportedly driving through a fence.
Brayan Lopez, 18, was taken into custody. Police revealed Lopez had an active arrest warrant for an alleged armed robbery that occurred in December 2024. According to investigators, Lopez, along with two accomplices, entered a residence on Des Moines’ east side and stole guns and shoes.
Additionally, Lopez is being sought in connection with a February 2025 homicide in which a 25-year-old Des Moines man was found dead on Maury Street. Though he is not currently charged in the homicide, Lopez faces charges related to the stolen truck chase and the December robbery, including:
First-degree theft
Eluding
First-degree robbery
A 15-year-old passenger in Lopez’s vehicle during the chase has been referred to juvenile court for interference with official acts.
The Des Moines Police Department (DMPD) continues its investigation into the case.
