Two Colorado Springs residents were arrested Wednesday for attempting to steal a tractor while evading law enforcement on a property north of Pueblo, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle from El Paso County heading toward Pueblo County. The suspects, 25-year-old Brandt Boden and 26-year-old Aleeyah Niknami, abandoned the vehicle north of Pueblo and began walking through a prairie.
Sheriff David Lucero, along with deputies and two K9 units, responded to the scene and began searching the vehicle. Shortly after, a call came in reporting a man, later identified as Boden, driving a tractor through a fence on a ranch.
A witness on the ranch approached the suspects, causing them to abandon the tractor and flee on foot. The witness then contacted the sheriff’s office to report the encounter.
Deputies and Sheriff Lucero arrived at the property and quickly located the suspects. They were taken into custody without incident.
Boden admitted to stealing the vehicle in El Paso County and was taken into custody by El Paso County deputies. He faces charges of second-degree criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and first-degree motor vehicle theft. Niknami was arrested on charges of second-degree motor vehicle theft (complicity), second-degree criminal trespass, and an outstanding warrant.
