OLYMPIA, Wash. — A 40-year-old man, identified as Brandon Lee Penn of Forks, was arrested on August 28 at Percival Landing Bathhouse for a series of purchases made with a stolen credit card.
Police began investigating after reports of fraudulent transactions surfaced on August 4, following the theft of a purse containing bank cards, cash, and personal items from a shopping center on Plum Street Southeast.
The victim reported that her stolen card had been used at multiple stores, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Wetzel’s Pretzel, Victoria’s Secret, Pro Image, Buckle, Cinnabon, Best Buy, and Champs. Additional purchase attempts at Best Buy and Champs were declined. The total estimated loss from stolen items and unauthorized purchases exceeded $1,800.
Security footage from these stores captured a man conducting transactions with the stolen card. Police matched the images with photos of Penn, identifying him by tattoos and clothing linked to stolen merchandise.
Penn was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility. He now faces multiple charges, including nine counts of second-degree identity theft, 10 counts of third-degree theft, and second-degree possession of stolen property.
