COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A Colorado Springs man, Brandon Hugney, has been taken into custody for arson again, marking his second arrest for setting fires in under a month.

On Sunday afternoon, just before 4:45 p.m., police responded to a fire near Wooten Road and Geiger Boulevard on the east side of the city, assisting the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Officials discovered a small fire behind a building and quickly identified Hugney as the suspect.

Authorities confirmed they had probable cause to arrest Hugney for arson. This recent arrest follows a July 14 arrest related to a grass fire on Space Center Drive, just days earlier.

Police also suspect Hugney of starting several other fires, including two in December 2024 and one in April 2025 at an abandoned building on Citadel Drive.

As of Monday, Hugney remains held in El Paso County jail with a $10,000 bond.
