Brandon Gearlds Indicted for Meth Distribution in Kentucky

Tompkinsville man faces life for drug trafficking

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A Tompkinsville man, Brandon Gearlds, 41, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of methamphetamine distribution.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the indictment alleges Gearlds distributed five grams or more of meth on October 23, 2023, and 50 grams or more on October 26, 2023, and April 24, 2024.

Gearlds appeared in court on March 18, where a U.S. Magistrate Judge ordered he remain in custody pending trial.

If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case is being investigated by the DEA – Paducah Post of Duty and the Barren River Drug Task Force, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark J. Yurchisin II.

Officials remind the public that an indictment is an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
