LOUISVILLE, KY — A Louisville man has been arrested after allegedly stealing an SUV with a nine-month-old baby inside, prompting a kidnapping investigation.
Brandon Conley faces charges of kidnapping a minor and theft by unlawful taking (vehicle valued $1,000–$10,000), according to an arrest citation.
Police say the incident occurred at the intersection of South Brook Street and East Broadway, where the child’s parents reportedly left their Gold Chevy Trailblazer running with the baby inside. While they stepped away, an unknown man got into the vehicle and drove off.
Just minutes later, staff at Jewish Hospital reported a man had entered the lobby, left an infant, and fled the scene. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed.
Police soon located the stolen vehicle near West Jefferson Street and South 10th Street, and later arrested Conley near South 27th Street and West Muhammad Ali Boulevard.
Conley is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on August 28.
The child was safely reunited with their parents. The investigation is ongoing.
