CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Craven County couple is facing multiple theft and drug charges following a reported courthouse theft.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were alerted to a theft at the Craven County Courthouse on October 9. Investigators identified 51-year-old Bradley Robey and 27-year-old Melissa Swain as suspects.
According to court documents, Robey allegedly stole a bag containing a wallet, debit cards, a cell phone, a Bluetooth speaker, and a charger. Deputies later obtained a search warrant for Robey’s home, where they recovered the stolen items and methamphetamine.
Bradley Robey’s charges include:
Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine
Two counts of financial card theft
Two counts of obtaining property by false pretense
Felony identity theft
Misdemeanor larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia
Melissa Swain faces:
Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine
Felony financial card theft
Felony obtaining property by false pretense
Felony identity theft
Possession of stolen property
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Both suspects were taken to Craven County Jail without bond, as they were already out on bond for previous theft and drug charges.
Authorities also reported that two dogs were found inside the home and were turned over to Animal Protective Services.
