Elmira, NY – A Chemung County contractor is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly accepting thousands of dollars from homeowners for home improvement projects he never completed, according to the New York State Police.
Bradley S. Baldwin, 28, of Elmira, was arrested by troopers in Horseheads on August 22 following an investigation into several fraud complaints related to his contracting business.
Authorities say Baldwin took advance payments from local residents for construction jobs that were either never started or left unfinished. Following the investigation, Baldwin was charged with:
Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree (Class D felony)
Scheme to Defraud in the 1st degree (Class E felony)
Two counts of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree (Class E felonies)
He was arraigned in the Town of Veteran Court and is currently being held at the Chemung County Jail on bail.
