Two Boynton Beach residents have been arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $100,000 in high-end merchandise from a Public Storage facility — and one of them worked there.
Latasha Barrott, 45, the facility manager at Public Storage on Hypoluxo Road, and William Williams, 50, are both charged with grand theft over $20,000 and burglary to an unoccupied structure.
Among the stolen goods:
100 pairs of Jordan sneakers valued at $50,000
$40,000 worth of Amiri designer jeans
A $3,000 Louis Vuitton jacket
A $2,100 reclining couch
A 65-inch Roku TV
The victim, a California resident, discovered the theft after being locked out of his storage account in early June. When he contacted Public Storage customer service, he learned his account had been closed.
According to the arrest report, Barrott had full access to the unit after it was marked for auction on May 28 due to non-payment. Authorities say she changed the victim’s login credentials and email address, preventing him from receiving notifications.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputies say Barrott then coordinated with Williams to remove items from the unit.
Investigators later executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence and recovered much of the stolen property.
CBS12 attempted to get comment from Barrott’s residence, where a woman denied any wrongdoing:
“Hell no! It ain’t true!”
Public Storage staff declined to comment on the record but noted that an arrest doesn’t mean guilt. Still, the evidence includes tampered account records and items traced directly to the victim.
Neither PBSO nor the victim has provided further statements as the case continues.
