Bonnie Hackendorn Charged with Murder After Bishopville Shooting

Woman arrested for killing boyfriend, David Shaulis, in Worcester County

BISHOPVILLE, MD — Bonnie Hackendorn, 61, of Bishopville, has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of David Shaulis, 57, of Bishopville. The incident took place late last night at a residence in the 12,000 block of Shell Mill Road, Worcester County.

Hackendorn has been charged with first-degree and second-degree murder, first-degree and second-degree assault, and firearm-related offenses after an investigation by the Maryland State Police. She is currently being held without bond at the Worcester County Detention Center.

Troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to the scene just before 9:30 p.m. on the evening of the incident. Hackendorn contacted police, claiming that her boyfriend, Shaulis, had been shot. Upon arrival, authorities found Shaulis unresponsive on the floor with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, along with the Criminal Enforcement Division and Forensic Sciences Division, responded to process the scene and collect evidence. After gathering information and evidence, Hackendorn was arrested and taken into custody.

Shaulis’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing as police work to uncover further details surrounding the tragic event.
