Two former teachers at a Christian prep school in Georgia have been arrested days apart on charges of sexually abusing the same student, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Bonnie Elizabeth Brown, 25, was arrested on March 19 and charged with improper sexual contact with a minor. Just days later, on March 23, Sherri Delle Mauldin, 60, was taken into custody on multiple charges, including improper sexual contact by an employee, aggravated child molestation, and statutory rape.
Both women previously worked at Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam, Georgia, a small K3-12 Christian school with just 85 students. The investigation into their alleged crimes began in June 2024 after authorities received reports of sexual abuse occurring on and off the school campus.
According to Ashley Mitchell, the victim’s attorney, the teachers abused their position of power.
“My school did not protect me as a child. I see that now, and I hope these arrests will protect our community and children in it,” the victim said in a statement.
Mitchell also suggested that other teachers may have been involved in similar misconduct.
While neither suspect was still employed at Nathanael Greene Academy at the time of their arrest, Brown had been teaching at Washington-Wilkes Primary School in Wilkes County until recently. She has since been terminated.
Both Brown and Mauldin, graduates of Nathanael Greene Academy, were booked into Greene County Sheriff’s Office jail. Brown’s bond was set at $50,000. The investigation remains ongoing.
