Bokaro Police have arrested five notorious criminals from their hideouts under the Kasmar and Jaridih police station areas in Bokaro district in connection with a burglary case, officials said on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh stated that the arrests were made following a complaint filed by Bahadurpur resident Shashi Shekhar, whose house was burgled on the intervening night of August 27 and 28. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, which relied on technical surveillance and human intelligence to trace the accused.
“All the arrested individuals are history-sheeters with previous criminal records,” SP Singh said.
The accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar Kherwar (30), Angrakshak Kherwar (25), Kohinoor Kherwar (22), and Ashutosh Kumar alias Sunny (18), all residents of Kothar village in Ramgarh district, along with Abhay Kumar Saw (25) from Chhatarpur in Ramgarh.
Police recovered a large quantity of stolen property from their possession, including gold and silver ornaments, approximately Rs4,500 in cash, burglary tools, and a car allegedly used to carry out the crime.
Further investigation is underway, police added.
