EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — Court documents reveal that 38-year-old Bobby Lee Boyd has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an elderly, mentally disabled woman at the Edmond Health Care Center, located at 39 E. 33rd Street, on Friday, July 25.
Boyd, a double amputee, was reportedly discovered by a staff member in bed with the victim, partially unclothed and allegedly in the act of assaulting her. The victim is non-verbal and unable to communicate her consent, according to the affidavit.
The disturbing incident was first reported by the roommate of the victim, whose family shared their account with News 4. Myra Smith said her mother, affectionately known as “Memaw,” witnessed the act and alerted staff immediately.
“She said she went to the desk to tell them, ‘There’s a man in my room,’” said Myra.
The victim’s family, who live in Missouri, say they were initially met with vague responses when contacting the facility. “They just said an incident happened,” said Myra’s husband, Marty. It wasn’t until they called Edmond Police that they learned the full extent of what occurred.
Since the incident, their loved one has experienced distress and sleepless nights. “She just can’t sleep at all… she’s got bags under her eyes,” Myra said. The family now plans to relocate her as soon as possible.
News 4 has reached out to Edmond Police for updates and is also awaiting a response from the legal team representing the company that owns Edmond Health Care Center.
