RIDGECREST, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A major narcotics operation on May 5, 2025, led to the arrest of three individuals in Ridgecrest and the seizure of approximately one pound of fentanyl and five firearms, authorities confirmed.
The Ridgecrest Police Department executed search warrants at two locations as part of a targeted operation to disrupt local drug trafficking networks. The seized fentanyl — a synthetic opioid significantly more potent than heroin — could have resulted in thousands of lethal doses, according to DEA estimates.
Among those arrested was Bobby Joe Holt, 61, who faces multiple felony charges, including possession and transport of a controlled substance for sale, and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.
Steven Lynn Holt, 60, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale and being a sex offender in possession of narcotics.
Eldon Childers Jr., 53, faces charges including firearm possession as a felon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The operation was led by Sergeant Groves, Corporal Pietrangelo, and Corporal Arnold, with support from Captain Tucker, Sergeant Lloyd, and other officers.
“This is a serious blow to local drug trafficking,” said Ridgecrest Police Chief Mario Ysit. “If you are selling drugs that are killing our citizens, we will find you, and we will take you to jail. Our department is committed to protecting this community and holding drug dealers accountable.”
Authorities stressed the deadly potential of fentanyl, highlighting that as little as 2 milligrams can be fatal. Ridgecrest police emphasized ongoing efforts to crack down on opioid distribution in the area.
