Bluefield Man Arrested for Stolen Explosives in Wyoming County

Garnett A. Rocci arrested for possession of stolen explosives material

WYOMING COUNTY, WV — A 40-year-old man from Bluefield, West Virginia, was arrested on March 19, 2025, after an investigation into stolen explosives material in Wyoming County. Garnett A. Rocci was taken into custody by the West Virginia State Police for possession of stolen explosives.

The investigation stemmed from a theft of explosives at the Bluestone Coal Site 34 in the Burke Mountain area of Wyoming County, which occurred on December 7, 2024. Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified Rocci as the primary suspect.

Rocci was arrested in March 2025, but the investigation is still ongoing, and more details may emerge as it progresses. The West Virginia State Police continue to work on gathering additional information related to the theft of the explosives.
