The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Billie Jean Claeys, 43, of St. Louis, with possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, after she was allegedly found with fentanyl following her arrest at an Arnold gas station.
Claeys was taken into custody on Nov. 12 and, as of Nov. 15, was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court documents.
Arnold Police responded to the Circle K gas station on Feb. 21 to check on the welfare of a woman. When the officer arrived, he found Claeys and determined she was wanted by St. Louis Police on a warrant for drug possession, the probable-cause statement said.
After placing her under arrest, the officer asked Claeys if she possessed any illegal substances before transporting her to the Police Station. She allegedly said she did not.
A female deputy from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to search her at the station and reportedly discovered a capsule hidden under Claeys’ shirt.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol later tested the capsule’s contents and identified the substance as fentanyl on July 7, according to the report.
