In a significant anti-drug operation, the Basistha Police Station apprehended Bijay Das (26), a resident of Lakhipur in Goalpara district, during a raid in the Basistha area of Guwahati.
The raid was conducted at a rented house in Natun Bazar, where police recovered 8.5 kilograms of ganja suspected to be intended for distribution.
Drug Trafficking Allegations
Police identified Bijay Das as a suspected drug peddler. The seized quantity and nature of the operation indicate involvement in drug trafficking, a serious offence under Indian narcotics law.
Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the supply network and identify possible accomplices involved in the distribution of ganja in the region.
