A Bibb County man has been arrested on multiple child pornography charges after law enforcement discovered disturbing evidence during an investigation into the death of a middle school boy.
The probe began with the tragic gunshot death of a young boy in West Blocton, Alabama, inside a wooden white residence. However, as officers from ALEA, the Department of Homeland Security, and West Blocton Police executed a search warrant on September 15, they uncovered materials that led to a wider criminal investigation.
West Blocton Police Chief Pete Hicks confirmed that the search revealed images and videos related to child pornography. 32-year-old Jonathan Dewayne White now faces ten counts each of voyeurism and production of child pornography.
“It appeared he was taken by surprise during the arrest,” Chief Hicks said. “White is a local resident, known in the community, and has lived here most of his life.”
There has been no official statement linking White’s alleged offenses to the boy’s death, and ALEA has declined to provide additional information regarding the cause of death.
Police urge anyone with information about this case or related matters to come forward. Chief Hicks emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activity, even if people are unsure, so authorities can conduct welfare checks and investigations.
White remains in the Bibb County Jail with bond set at over $1 million.
