The Crime Branch of Indore police arrested Bhupendra Digwa after recovering brown sugar valued at Rs 1.40 lakh in the international market during a search operation near Lokhande bridge on Monday.
Police on routine surveillance noticed a man sitting on a black two-wheeler near the drain beside Lokhande bridge. His suspicious behavior prompted officers to approach him. The man, later identified as Bhupendra Digwa, a resident of Aerodrome, became nervous, leading police to question and search him.
Authorities recovered 13.82 grams of brown sugar from his possession. Additionally, a two-wheeler without a number plate and a mobile phone were seized. During interrogation, Digwa admitted purchasing the narcotic at lower prices and selling it in Indore for higher profits.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Crime Branch police station. Bhupendra Digwa, who works in a vehicle repair shop and studied up to Class 8, faces charges related to the narcotic seizure. The total estimated value of the recovered items, including the narcotic substance, vehicle, and mobile phone, is Rs 2.30 lakh.
