The Bhubaneswar police successfully apprehended 20-year-old Rajesh Sisodia, a notorious youth who had been crashing weddings to steal valuables. The police tracked him down in his hometown of Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, recovering gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh that had been stolen from recent weddings.
Rajesh Sisodia, who had been out on bail for just two days, was arrested after a thorough investigation. The authorities followed him to Madhya Pradesh, where the stolen items were recovered from his house. Sisodia was brought back to Bhubaneswar and placed in judicial custody.
The investigation revealed that Sisodia and two accomplices had arrived in Bhubaneswar in early February. They attended a wedding at a hotel in Maitri Vihar on February 2, posing as guests. During the event, they stole a bag containing jewelry and Rs 1.20 lakh in cash from the bride’s family. Following a complaint from the bride’s father, Saroj Mishra, a case was registered, and the police launched an investigation.
Later the same evening, Sisodia and his associates attempted to steal from another wedding at a hotel in Puri, but this time, locals caught him while his accomplices managed to flee. Baliapanda police arrested Sisodia, and he was sent to jail.
While in jail, Bhubaneswar police suspected Sisodia’s involvement in other similar thefts. After being released on bail, Sisodia left for Rajgarh. The police followed him and raided his house, recovering the stolen ornaments. They are now working to arrest his associates involved in the crime.
Police revealed that Sisodia’s gang would travel across India during wedding seasons, targeting families of brides. They would gather information about weddings at prominent hotels and infiltrate the events, dressed as well-dressed guests. Once they had stolen the valuables, they would flee in a car.
The police are continuing their investigation and efforts to apprehend the other members of the gang involved in these thefts.
