In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police arrested four members of a gang involved in stealing mobile phones and valuables to fund drug use. Several stolen phones and a gold chain were seized from their possession.

The Pahal Police registered a case following a complaint from Dinakrishna Mahala, who reported that miscreants had broken into his house during the night of January 26-27, 2025, stealing cash, a mobile phone, a gold chain, and a silver bracelet. A bicycle had also been stolen from his house prior to this incident.

During the probe, police traced the stolen phones through technical analysis. Acting on reliable information, they arrested Kuna Pandab and Kulamani Sahu near Unit-4 Market in Bhubaneswar, recovering several stolen mobile phones.

Both accused confessed and revealed that they had given the stolen gold chain to their associates Naresh Raut and Sanatan Behera. Subsequently, these two were also arrested, and stolen items from a private bank, including a mobile phone and a gold chain, were recovered.

Police disclosed that Kuna had been involved in three prior cases, Kulamani in three, Sanatan in two, and Naresh in twelve. The gang reportedly stole valuables to finance their drug habits.

Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional gang members.
