The Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested four individuals involved in a ganja smuggling operation from Orissa to Bhopal. The police recovered a total of 15 kg 160 grams of ganja, with an estimated value of Rs 4 lakh.
The operation was set in motion after the Crime Branch received a tip-off from an informer about suspicious individuals with a bag filled with cannabis, waiting for customers in front of Yash Bank in MP Nagar Zone-1. Upon receiving this information, Crime Branch Station Incharge Ashok Maravi immediately activated his team and formed a special unit to handle the operation.
In a well-coordinated and swift response, the team, disguised in civilian clothes to avoid detection, reached the spot. Upon searching the bags of the four suspects, the police found the ganja wrapped in foil. When interrogated, the accused confessed that they had smuggled the ganja from Orissa with the intention of selling it in Bhopal.
The arrested suspects have been identified as:
Arjun Kuchbandia (19) – A laborer from Harda
Suraj Kuchbandia (35) – A confectioner from Raisen
Lakshman Kuchbandia (25) – A laborer from Harda
Narmada Kahar alias Chhote (27) – A second-hand clothes business owner from Raisen
A case has been filed against them under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The four accused will be presented in court as per legal procedures.
This successful operation has been lauded by the authorities, who have urged law enforcement to continue their efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
