In a significant bust, the Bhopal Crime Branch arrested two key members of a drug racket that targeted young people in clubs, gyms, and parties. Among those arrested was Saifuddin, an absconding drug dealer with a Rs 5,000 bounty on his head.
Officials said Saifuddin and Ashu alias Shahrukh were apprehended in Govindpura with over 15 grams of MD drugs and paraphernalia worth Rs 3 lakh. The gang used girls to lure victims, making drug delivery less suspicious.
Once addicted, victims were enticed deeper into the syndicate with promises of high-paying jobs and luxury lifestyles. The gang operated on a chain marketing model, using one addict to recruit others.
Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chauhan confirmed the arrests followed a tip-off near Sabzi Mandi. The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests expected.
