The Bholath police have arrested two youths involved in a daylight gold chain snatching, along with a local jeweller who purchased the stolen chain. The incident occurred near Kamarawa Adda and was reported a few days ago.
According to Bholath SHO Ranjit Singh, victim Sukhwinder Kaur was returning home from Bholath market on her Activa scooter, accompanied by her daughter and mother-in-law. Near a sweet shop by Kamarawa Adda, two youths on a motorcycle snatched her gold chain and sped off towards Akhara village.
A swift inquiry helped identify the suspects as Varinder (alias Sunny) and Deepak Kumar, both residents of Ambgarh under Kartarpur police station. The accused were arrested by ASI Manjit Singh.
During interrogation, Varinder and Deepak confessed to selling the stolen chain to jeweller Yashveen Singh, a Kapurthala resident, who was also arrested and named in the case.
SHO Ranjit Singh stated Varinder has five previous snatching cases, while Yashveen faces eight cases related to purchasing stolen gold across various police stations.
All accused remain in custody as investigations continue to unravel their involvement in snatchings and the illegal gold trade network.
