In one of Bihar’s largest drug busts this year, Bhojpur Police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested four alleged smugglers and seized three kilograms of heroin valued at over Rs5 crore on Thursday.
The arrests occurred near Geedha overbridge, under the Geedha police station area, after officers intercepted a suspicious car attempting to evade a checkpoint. “When the vehicle was searched, heroin and other contraband were found concealed inside. All four occupants were immediately taken into custody,” said Ranjit Kumar Singh, Sadar SDPO-2.
The accused have been identified as:
Vishal Kumar of Saraiya Balua
Arun Kumar of Chhotki Sasaram
Abhishek Pandit of Ranisagar
Rahul Singh of Deoria
Police stated that the group is connected to a wider smuggling network. While official estimates value the seized heroin at Rs3 crore, its black-market value is over Rs5 crore. Interrogations have already helped identify local handlers and mafia links, with further arrests anticipated.
The operation followed intelligence indicating that narcotics were being transported through the district. Authorities conducted heightened surveillance along highways and major routes, describing the bust as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on organized drug trafficking.
