The Bhojpur Cyber Police Station on Monday arrested two cybercriminals allegedly involved in luring people into illegal online gaming, officials said.
The arrested have been identified as Ayush Shrivastava and Mohit Kumar Pandey, both residents of Bhojpur district. Police seized nine mobile phones, three bank passbooks, and two laptops from their possession.
Authorities are also seeking the alleged mastermind, Mrityunjaya Kumar Pandey of Kanali village under Shahpur police limits, from whose house the two accused were apprehended.
Cyber DSP Sneh Setu explained the modus operandi: the criminals used multiple bank accounts to channel Rs 11–12 lakh daily to the illegal gaming app, while transferring Rs 4–5 lakh daily to players as “rewards” via UPI and net banking to keep them engaged.
Police said both arrested accused were responsible for recruiting new members, particularly youth, into the network. Shrivastava had allegedly learned cyber fraud techniques in Madhya Pradesh and had been active in the gang for the past two years.
Investigations are ongoing, with police reviewing the bank accounts of both the accused and the players involved in illegal online gaming activities to trace the financial trail.
