Tuition teacher harassed former student via social media

by Ananya Mehta

Surat Police have arrested Bhavesh Patel, a 35-year-old tuition teacher from Katargam, for allegedly creating five fake Instagram accounts of a former 23-year-old student. The accused reportedly used these accounts to send defamatory messages to her friends and relatives and circulated her photos online.

The victim had been a student at Positive Classes in Katargam, where Patel taught commerce and was also an administrative partner. Although she initially approached the police two years ago, the harassment resurfaced recently, prompting renewed action.

Police confirmed that Patel continued harassing the woman even five years after she left his classes, leading to his arrest by the Cybercrime department. Authorities are investigating further to determine the full extent of the online abuse.
