In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the police in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh have arrested a man with 2.5 kilograms of charas in his vehicle.
The accused, Bharam Singh, is a resident of the Mandi district, and was intercepted near the night shelter in Jawali, a location increasingly flagged by authorities due to rising drug-related activity.
Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, the police discovered a substantial quantity of charas, a high-grade cannabis resin. Singh was immediately taken into custody, and a case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities confirmed that the seizure is part of a wider effort to combat narcotics trafficking in the hill state, where border routes and remote locations are often exploited by traffickers.
This arrest further highlights Jawali as a growing hotspot of concern, prompting tightened surveillance and enforcement in the region.
