NIAGARA FALLS, ON — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged groping of a male youth at a shopping center in Niagara Falls.
Niagara Regional Police confirmed that Bertan Isik was taken into custody just hours after they released details of the incident, which occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Town and Country Plaza on Portage Road.
Authorities say the boy was shopping with his mother when an unknown man approached and inappropriately touched him inside a store. The suspect quickly fled the scene on foot.
Following a public appeal for information, tips from the community helped investigators identify and locate Isik. He was arrested and has since been charged with one count of sexual assault.
Isik is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the St. Catharines courthouse on Friday.
