Benjamin Song, Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Suspect, Arrested in Dallas

Benjamin Song, a 32-year-old suspect on Texas’ Top 10 Most Wanted list, was arrested in Dallas for his alleged role in the July 4 ambush on officers at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas. Song had been sought since a Blue Alert was issued on July 9, five days after the attack, which involved an attempt to murder three officers.

Authorities confirmed the arrest took place on Tuesday evening, with Song scheduled for booking into Johnson County Jail. His wanted poster now marks him as captured, and the $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest has been removed. In total, agencies had offered $35,000 in rewards.

Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson praised the coordinated law enforcement effort, stating, “The fourteen individuals who planned and participated in these heinous acts will be prosecuted, and we expect justice will be swift.” FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock expressed gratitude for public assistance in locating Song and emphasized the FBI’s commitment to protecting law enforcement from violence.

Details regarding the exact time, location, and circumstances of Song’s arrest have not yet been released. Officials continue to investigate and apprehend others involved in the coordinated attack.
