In a significant breakthrough, the Cybercrime Economic Offences and Narcotics (CEN) police, North Division, Bengaluru, arrested 10 individuals involved in an elaborate online job fraud scheme. The police acted on a tip-off and successfully raided the premises, recovering Rs1,74,000 in cash, Rs7,34,768 frozen, and a large amount of digital evidence, including 72 mobile phones, 182 debit cards, 133 SIM cards, and 127 bank passbooks.

The arrested individuals were identified as Sayed Yayha, Umar Faruk, Mohamud Maheen, Mohamud Muzamil, Thejash, Chethan, Washim, Sayed Zaid, Sahi Abdul Anan, and Omprakash, all residents of Bengaluru. They are accused of running an organized online job fraud racket that targeted job seekers across the country, luring them with fake job offers and demanding advance payments for job-related documentation and registration fees.

The police investigation revealed that the gang had been operating for several months, deceiving numerous individuals and siphoning off their hard-earned money. The fraudsters used debit cards, fake SIM cards, and other tools to avoid detection while transferring money to multiple accounts.

The CEN police have confiscated the seized materials for further investigation and have frozen substantial amounts of money linked to the scam. The authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the full extent of the fraud and any additional accomplices in the scheme.

This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the growing threat of online job scams, which often exploit vulnerable individuals looking for employment opportunities. The police have urged the public to remain cautious while seeking jobs online and verify all job offers before making any financial commitments.
