A 36-year-old man, identified as Babajaan, was arrested by Bengaluru police for multiple thefts allegedly committed to financially support his three wives and nine children, police officials said on Thursday.
During the arrest, authorities recovered 188 grams of gold, 550 grams of silver jewellery, and Rs 1,500 in cash from Babajaan. The case is registered at the Electronic City police station.
An officer revealed, “With this arrest, we have solved eight theft cases. It appears that his financial struggles to maintain such a large family drove him to theft.”
Babajaan’s wives live separately in Shikaripalya near Anekal, Chikkaballapura, and Srirangapatna. Despite the distances, he remains in contact with all of them and continues to support his family. The police described him as having become a “professional thief” under financial pressure.
