The Belagavi police have arrested a man, Aragonda Arvinda alias Arunkumar, 43, from Telangana, for allegedly duping students with false promises of securing medical seats, even for those who scored low in the NEET examination.
Arvinda, who is believed to have operated the fraudulent scheme for some time, was apprehended by officers of the Market Police Station. In addition to his arrest, authorities seized a substantial amount of cash totaling Rs12 lakh, along with computers and mobile phones worth Rs12.66 lakh.
The arrested individual reportedly assured students that he could arrange medical college seats for them, irrespective of their NEET exam scores, in exchange for hefty sums of money. Further investigations are underway to identify other potential victims and uncover the full extent of his scam.
