Two Beaumont men, Romeo Johnson, 36, and Brandon Dodd, 39, have been indicted for the murder of 57-year-old Ronald Barnes, who was found dead in his home on September 14, 2024.

The homicide occurred just after 3 a.m. when officers responded to a call at a residence on Ives St. Upon arriving, they discovered Barnes’ body inside the house. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The Beaumont Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons detectives, along with the Narcotics Unit, have led the investigation into the case.

As the investigation continues, both Johnson and Dodd now face charges in connection with Barnes’ murder. The case remains under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
