In a sweeping anti-narcotics operation, Mizoram Police have seized nearly Rs302 crore worth of illegal drugs across multiple coordinated raids, marking one of the largest crackdowns in Northeast India.
Major seizures included:
20.304 kg of crystal methamphetamine (valued at Rs300 cr) and 1.652 kg of heroin (worth Rs49.56 lakh) found in a hidden compartment of a pickup truck on the Zemabawk–Seling route. The vehicle’s driver, B Lalthazuala (45), and the main suspect, Bawilianthang (42), were arrested.
3.93 kg of meth tablets (Rs51.09 lakh) seized from a car in Aizawl; arrests include Sahab Uddin, Emanuel Remnalalliana, and Lalbiaksiama.

Additional busts on July 28 and 31 and August 1 netted over a kilogram of heroin from individuals in Champhai, Lunglei, and Aizawl regions.
Inspector General H. Ramthlengliana praised the “relentless drive” against drugs, which also uncovered cross-border smuggling that exploits porous borders. All arrests were made under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Authorities are probing deeper into the international network, especially linked to Myanmar, with prison sentences and trafficking routes under scrutiny.
