Bathinda district police arrested two persons and recovered approximately 8.27 lakh capsules of habit-forming drugs, including pregabalin and tramadol, in a coordinated operation.
The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar and Ridhanshu. Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Narinder Singh stated that both were arrested on Monday, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act and section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Canal Police Station.
Sanjeev Kumar was apprehended during a naka check in Parasram Nagar, with around 90,000 pregabalin capsules recovered from a carton delivered via courier. His interrogation led police to Ridhanshu, a pharmacy owner in Bathinda Grain Market and native of Meerut. A joint team of police and the Drugs Control Department seized over 7.25 lakh pregabalin capsules and 20,000 tramadol capsules from Ridhanshu’s chemist shop warehouse.
Authorities reported that the accused were illegally selling the capsules to drug users at Labour Chowk and nearby areas. SP Narinder Singh added that the police are tracking courier data and identifying the drug manufacturer to trace the complete supply chain.
